Moi (= hi in Finnish)! My name is Anna-Sofia. This blog is my tribute to a tiny metropolis and the capital of Finland, Helsinki.
I want to share with you the nice things we have and do around here. I hope that those of you who live or plan to visit Helsinki / Finland can find some useful, inspirational and beautiful ideas here. Remember, Helsinki is not (only) what the national tourist board tells you…

About me? Well, I love writing. It helps me to learn and to understand this world and its people. I’m interested in travel, world politics, start-ups, (sub)cultures, photography, visual arts and cinema. A couple of years ago I got a job in the non-profit communications, as I felt the urge to do “something meaningful” with my life. I also work as freelance journalist.
Once in a while, I love to get away from here, travel to far away places and get to know new people. One day I’d love to get a great idea on how to help people and really do something about it.
Questions, ideas? Please write me: annasofia0 @ hotmail.com.
Hi there,
I really like your blog! Do you also have Twitter?
Many blessings,
Elisa
Hello Elisa,
Thank you! Yes I have Twitter but I’ve been very inactive there lately – a good reminder to get back to some tweeting, thanks! 🙂 I’ll send you the link to my Twitter profile a little later on too, ok?
Have a great week,
Anna-Sofia
Hi there,
That’s okay (-:
Have a great week too!
Hello! I’m so glad to fine you in Helsinki! hahaha because I’m living in Espoo! I love your life philosophy:being happy and becoming better person! absolutely both are mine, too!
Hello, nice to hear that you are living in Espoo, we’re neighbours! 🙂 Yes, that’s a simply philosophy but still quite hard to fulfil… I wish you very nice spring days!
Hey Anna-Sofia – really loved your blog – very fresh and refreshing!
Dear Ishita, thank you so much for your nice comment!
I wish you pretty spring days,
Anna-Sofia
Wishing you the same…
Hello Anna-Sofia,
you once left a comment in my blog and from that moment I have been following yours. Where are you? I have been patiently waiting (in the anonymity) for you to start writing and photographing again. Now has *really* being too long since your last post and I wonder if a gentle push in the back would help to get you going on again =)
Greetings,
Alvaro
Dear Alvado,
I’m back! Thank you very much for following my blog and sorry for these silent months. I completely agree that it has been too long…
This spring was a bit crazy as I started a new job and had various freelancer projects going on simultaneously – more about them later here. But now I’m learning to say no and concentrating on the essential things – like blogging!
So you’ll hear about me soon again! 🙂
All the best,
Anna-Sofia
My great-grandparents are from Finland and I visited Helsinki for the first time last year. Loved it. Your blog reminds me of my trip and also of how similar Finland is to where I live (Minnesota).
Nice to hear that! And good to hear that you had a chance to visit Helsinki for the first time, it’s always interesting getting to know your roots. I remember that many Finns moved to the States in the old times.
Also please suggest if there’s something you’d like to read about in this blog when it comes to Helsinki.
Have a nice weekend!
Hi Anna,
I liked your blog. It shows the charming beauty of the Northern star “Helsinki”. I am Dr. Hakim, the director of Youth committee of UPF (Universal Peace Federation) in Finland. It would be a great pleasure to have you with us in different youth activities and conferences worldwide!
Best of luck,
Hakim
Dear Hakim,
Thank you for your lovely message! And sorry for the very slow answer, I’ve been really busy the last months with my day job, freelance projects & studies… but now I’m back to blogging and full of enthusiasm to share all that our dear Helsinki has to offer!
All the best to you,
Anna-Sofia
